- GBIC - standard transceiver, normally used for Gigabit Ethernet, Fibre Channel or CWDM, 100FX to 1 Gbit, CWDM, 500 m-120 km range
- SFP - the compact connector style of the GBIC, available for different ranges and applications, 100FX to 4,25 Gbit, CWDM, BiDi, 500 m-120 km range
- XENPAK - 10Gbit datarate, up to 80 km
- X2 - 10Gbit datarate, up to 80 km, slightly more compact form than the XENPAK
- XFP - 10Gbit datarate, 300 m up to 80 km, the most compact connector style, comparable to the SFP
